Gestational Diabetes

· Pregnancy health · No Comments

Gestational diabetes is a condition of pregnancy where your body doesn’t tolerate carbohydrates well.

It can have effects on your baby, on your body and on your delivery.

Because of this, we test all pregnant around 28 weeks of pregnancy, or earlier if indicated. It involves drinking a small sugary drink then having a blood test 1 hour later.

Most people tolerate it very well. Our lab is right next to our office making it as quick and painless as possible.
